[ my time, my time ]
i can't remember myself saying this, but here goes..
recently i got myself thinking about this wonderful invention call Handphone.. something more than a luxury compared 10 years ago.. when pager was 'kick ass' gadget. anyway, something has slowly but surely creeped into our lives without many of us noticing.. our lives have changed..
i'm not talking about the convenience of talking to anyone, anywhere, anytime.. BUT yes.. that's the problem.. dun geddit? ok, when we call someone on the handphone, do we expect to get the person to answer it? and if they do not answer? we felt offended, upset, suspicious of their motives, some may even feel that it's rude for not answering (more so when they know you have caller ID).. on the other hand, when they answer, more often than not, the first question is no longer the usual "how are you?" but rather, "where are you?"..
i'm not despising this invention or this convenience, but personally, i think we have let ourselves associated with this handphone in a wrong way! if i were to receive a call, i still hold the right to receive it or not.why? i'm i rude? am i a jack-ass? am i attitude? well well.. i dun think so.. and why? simple.. my time is mine. i choose to answer call at my convenience and not at the callers' convenience.. since when communication is ever this way? if you want to talk to someone, you ask for permission or seek acknowledge first right? handphone should be the same too.. right?
i'm sure some smart ass must be telling me not to on my handphone.. or even better, dun carry one. well.. we have to move on in life right? so, i guess we have to practise our emotions and draw it away from our expections that our call to anyone will be answered.. give that person a break.. we are invading their privacy.. so let's be more considerate to others before we question and judge others.. heheh.. and yes, try asking the other party whether are we disturbing them before we start complaining the number of miss call they got from us. hahaha..
chill..
btw, interesting fact about privacy..
"Also, handphones, formerly called cell or cellular phones, operate by means of small areas called 'cells' with each cell transmitter/receiver atop a building or high point. This means that as long as your handphone is on, not just when receiving or making a call, your position can be determined very accurately from your handphone position. As long as it is on, it is in touch with the nearest cell transmitter/receiver and so reveals your position."
